What Is The Purpose Of Dance In The Church?
Dance – is a powerful functioning tool of communication in the kingdom of God to His Glory (Restoring the Dance, pp. 22-23, Ann Stevenson)
We are commanded to praise Him. (Deuteronomy 28:45-48)
Let them praise His name in the dance; let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp. (Psalm 149:3)
Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord! (Psalm 149:6)
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. (Psalm 150:4)
Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me. (Psalm 103)
Then the virgin shall rejoice, and the young men and the old, together, for I will turn their mourning into joy, thanksgiving and dancing.
(Jeremiah 31:11-13)
Our victory is found in Christ Jesus. He is the very reason that we can rejoice. With the lifting of our hands, bowing down before Him, and kneeling we declare His Lordship and our victory in Him.
Every move unto Him is a dance.
In all things we acknowledge Him.
When our Lord and Savior died on the Cross, he ushered in our victory over the enemy.
We have been given authority over all the works of the enemy (Luke 10:19).
He has said to us,
“Go ye unto all the world and preach the gospel”. (Mark 16:15)
Jesus rejoiced, (Strongs Concordance Greek 21 – Agalliao – to leap, to jump for joy) in the Spirit according to Luke 10:21.
We celebrate our victory over all the works of the enemy in the power of praise and worship. Praise actually stills the hand of the enemy.
In Exodus 15:20, Miriam danced before the congregation with the other women declaring their freedom from hundreds of years of bondage from the Egyptians.
Paul and Silas praised the Lord in the prison and their bondages were broken off! (Acts 16:25,26)
I have provided a few examples of God commanding us to dance. There is much power in the dance that is brought forth to glorify God.
Because we are anointed, (Isaiah 61:1-3) it destroys the yokes that have kept people in addictions, perversions and mental frustrations to name a few.
If the Son therefore make you free then you are free indeed. (John 8:36).

Thank you so much and all glory to God! There are many men who are dancing for the Lord and who are beginning to understand the purpose of praise and worship. Keep up the good work and I pray a blessing over you and may every ground that you touch be yours in Jesus name!
